Computer Mouse G1

Logitecg G1 computer mouse is an optical mouse , corded, meant mainly for gaming and that is also sold for an affordable price, around $20-25. As you can see from the pictures, this mouse has a nice design with dark blue and black margins and also black buttons and scroll wheel. Just below the scroll wheel you can see the Logitech logo.

The design is not very ergonomic, but it's comfortable when you use the mouse. It can be used by all people, left or right handed people altogether and, even if it really is a gaming mouse, it does not have extra buttons, but only three, plus the scroll wheel.

It is at the same time simple and complex, with very few buttons, but a lot of qualities. For example this Logitech G1 computer mouse has an optical performance of 800 dpi and the processing speed of 5.8 megapixels per second. It is very fast and offers a lag-free mousing , having an acceleration of up to 15 gs. The G1 mouse is connected to the USB or PS2 port of your computer and communicates instantenously with it thanks

o the amazing speed of data transfer which is eight times higher than that of regular computer mice. This mouse is also very light, weighing only 80 grams, so it is perfect to be used with notebooks and laptops and its weight allows a veryfast movement, too. Its moves are smooth and fast and this is due partly to the Teflon feet that make the mouse move like a feline.

The mouse does not need any additional software, but works perfectly from the moment you plug it in. However, if you want to change the standard settings and assign new functions for the mouse buttons, you can download the latest version of drivers from the Logitech official website. All these features show us the intended purpose of releasing a gaming mouse: first there's the incredible speed and accuracyhelped by the sensitive optical sensor and the Teflon feet, then there's the light weight that helps is move like the wind and also the fact that it is corded, as wireless mice are seldom good for gaming, as they may loose signal any time and have lag, which is really bad for the addicted gamer. The Teflon feet are guaranteed for 250 kilometres and the buttons for 3 million clicks .

The left and right click buttons do exactly what their names say they do: click left and right with the subsequent commands coming from this. The scroll wheel can be used to move more quickly between game fields or leaf the pages of a very long document looking for specific information. The small button situated just below the scroll wheel works as a "back' button, but you programme it to perform another operation as you wish.

In conclusion, if you want a simple, yet very effective computer mouse for gaming sessions and you also want not to spend a fortune on it - you found the perfect candidate from my point of view: it's the Logitech G1 computer mouse.

Ergonomic Computer Mouse

Ever since the computer industry has evolved so much as to be included in every single field of activity, more and more people have spent their time behind a computer desk, doping their jobs on the computer as a normal everyday task. But using the computer keyboard and mouse for so many hours every day has come to be a demanding job and now results are showing: a lot of people working on computers at work and at home have developed occupational illnesses that are directly related to the use of computer mouse.

You may wonder why the sudden preoccupation for ergonomics, as the computer mouse has been around for about fourty years? Well, the computer mouse was indeed invented in the 1960s and patented in 1971, but it was used only by very few people who worked in research. And even then computer mice were used only at work and only for a very short time every day.

It was in the late 1980s that the computers began to be more popular and affordable and began to spread. Now computers are as common a site at home and at the office as the telephone or the TV set. There is barely one home without a computer in it , except of course the less developed countries.

And, of course, nowadays computers and computer mice are used for both work related things and personal and recreational purposes. And, as you know, everything coming in big quantities is bad. That's exactly what I am trying to say here.

If you use the computer mouse regularly but in decent dosages nothing bad will happen to you. But if you exaggerate, you can get some computer related illness like the Repetitive Stress Injuries. They are : carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, cold hands syndrome, De Quervain's disease, strained wrists and many others. They all affect you pretty badly.

So the question now is what to do to avoid getting hurt and having RSI? Well, the most effective thing would be to stop using the computer mouse. But this is not an option when you work in front of a computer all day long and you get pretty much money for that, too.

Then you should try using an ergonomic computer mouse. There are many different types of ergonomic computer mice on the market, each claiming to be the best. You can choose from: The Evoluent vertical ergonomic mouse, the Quill ergonomic mouse, the pen mouse, the 3M , the Zero tension mouse, the finger mouse and many other models.

They all have one purpose in mind: to make mousing a relaxed and natural movement that won't affect people's health. In fact that's what ergonomics is about: adjusting the objects that people use to fit the user, that is to give the possibility for them to use natural moves and positions. That is why ergonomic computer mice opted for the vertical position lately, as it keeps the hand in a neutral position and no longer puts pressure on the wrist.

The only problem might be the price of these devices, which is pretty high . I guess this is caused by the cost of the research that needs to be done and all the tests and after that the patent for the ergonomic design, which can be rather expensive. So, I think we will continue using non-ergonomic computer mice for a while, until they get a lot cheaper and more popular.

Silent Computer Mouse

Published by MouseArena, on February 27th, 2010, in the categories: Ergonomic mouse

I am a very light sleeper, so when I hear the slightest noise I wake up and I can't fall asleep again, even if it is just two or three o'clock in the morning. So I have to do something with this time, so I open my computer and read e-books, play games or do a hundred other things you can do using a computer and the internet connection. The only problem is that my mouse is very noisy , so when I play some games and have to click a lot, it makes a very annoying clicking sound. Maybe for me, the person involved in the game, this sound is not so irritating as I get caught in action, but my husband is furious because the noise of my mouse wakes him up, too. I tried to make as little noise as possible , but all noises seem to be somehow amplified in the middle of the night when everybody else is sleeping and all the electrical devices are turned off, so there's no buzz in the background to hide the mouse noise. So I thought very seriously about it and I decided to look for a silent computer mouse. Of course I couldn't find such a thing in the normal computer stores, so I used the internet once more and I found out that some Japanese guy has just invented a mouse that makes very little noise compared to all the other computer mice and the name of the device is the silent computer mouse.

Apparently the name of the Japanese producer is Thanko and the computer engineers who succeeded to reduce the noise made by a normal computer's buttons used silicon in order to do this, so the result is amazing: instead of the usual noise level made by a computer mouse that measures 58 decibels now reaches the much smaller level of 35.5 decibels, which is a big difference for the human ear and is not so disturbing any more.

The Silent Mouse EX has a resolution of 800 dots per inch and can be plugged to the USB port of your computer. Its dimensions of 180 x 66mm recommend it for all hands and can be used up to a distance of 1.5 metres, the length of its cord. It supports both Mac OS X 8.6 or better and also all versions of Windows later than 1998, that is Windows 98 SE/ME/2000/XP/Vista. If you want to order it you will have to place your order here and pay its price ($40.11) plus the shipping costs. Og course the producer is in Japan , so you might consider it before placing the order. The web site is written in English, though, and they have an equivalent of the price is three currency : Japanese Yen, US dollar and euro.

As you can see from the pictures above it is very simple with its two regular left and right click buttons and the scroll wheel between them. There is also a kind of ergonomic design suggested by the existence of a special indentation where to place your thumb and the comfortable body of the computer mouse. There are two more buttons on the left side (forward and backward) that can be operated by the thumb.

3M Ergonomic Mouse Em500gps-am Small/medium – Mouse

Published by MouseArena, on February 25th, 2010, in the categories: Ergonomic mouse

Computer industry has developed a lot lately and also the computer use in all the fields of activity, including business and entertainment- I am talking about computer games. So most of the people in towns and cities spend a big part of their time working or playing on computers. This caused some more or less serious health problems like RSI or repetitive strain injuries. That is why computer producers started to be concerned about providing the best ergonomic devices in order to avoid such injuries, but at the same time to make people still use those devices instead of avoiding them because of the health issues. That lead to a boom in producing ergonomic mice and keyboards, mouse pads and chairs and furniture.

Of course many companies claim they are the ones who produced the best ergonomic mouse ever, but there are many different models of very effective ergonomic mice.

One of them is considered to be 3M ergonomic computer mouse. The original feature offered by this mouse is the vertical position, similar to a hand shake position that allows your hand to rest in a neutral and natural way, thus helping all the muscles and tendons relax instead of being tense like in the normal position of the hand during the mousing activity, palm down. When you use a normal computer mouse , the bones in your forearm are twisted and this leads to tiredness and sorrow after a long period old using the mouse. But this is avoided when using the 3M ergonomic mouse, as the hand rests on the side, without any flexing of the muscles or twisting of the bones.

This mouse may look a lot like a joy stick, but it's still a mouse: you move the whole mouse together with its support during mousing, not just your hand with the stick. In fact the "joystick" like body is attached to the fixed support and does not move to the side. You can find this mouse both in corded and cordless model and also in two sizes: small and medium, for a bigger difference in hand size. Unfortunately there is no version available for the left handed people, so probably they will have to deal with whatever mouse they already have at home or office. The button on top of the handle or stick or whatever you want to call it has the function of both left and right click, depending on the position (it had two parts for each click). Then there's a bigger button, situated on the opposite side of the palm, that you can operate with the tips of your fingers. It reacts very fast, no need to press your fingers very hard.

Actually this is sometimes an inconvenient until you learn how to deal with this ergonomic mouse, as you can press this button by mistake. It has the function of a scroll - just keep it down and move the whole mouse around for navigating. I must warn you that people who are used to having a scroll wheel will really miss it if they purchase this 3M Rennaisance ergonomic computer mouse.

You can purchase it from any computer mouse online store for an average price of $50-65.

Logitech Marble Mouse

Published by MouseArena, on February 20th, 2010, in the categories: Design, Ergonomic mouse, Logitech, concept mouse

Why do you think a computer mouse has such an unusual name as "marble mouse"? Well, the answer is in front of you. literally. Just take a look at the picture of this mouse and you will know why. The trackball attached to this mouse is nice and shiny and red just like a marble.

Besides, the main purpose of this kind of mouse is the increased sensitivity and accuracy that you need when you are working with such software applications like Photoshop or when you need them in special games with such requirements for getting good scores.

Trackballs are also very good ergonomic devices as they help you avoid repetitive strain injuries. Normal computer mice might cause this because you use your fingers to make almost the same repetitive moves for a long time. But when you are using the Logitech Marble mouse you don't have to click a lot, as you only rotate the trackball and this way operate the mouse and move the cursor.

Unlike normal computer mice that might not work on certain surfaces because they are too shiny or reflective and dissipate the mouse's signal, the trackball mouse does not even have to move. The only part that is moving is the trackball. It is fixed in a solid support that looks like Teflon and it moves very smoothly. That is the reason why this computer mouse is preferred in the offices where you don't have too much mousing space, so you don't have to move the mouse.

This Logitech Marble mouse has optical sensors detecting the position of the trackball and this determines the cursor's movement on the computer screen. As opposed to other computer mice, this one has the buttons on the sides: two big buttons and two small ones, rather included in the case and somewhat protected by the two big buttons.

The big side buttons are used for the usual click business, left and right click, and the two smaller ones are used for scrolling. However, all the four of them can be programmed to performed whatever function or operation you might think necessary, like opening applications, folders, shut down, volume control and whatever you might think of.

This mouse is corded, so it can be connected to the USB or PS2 port of your computer mouse and does not need any additional software unless you want to re-programme the buttons' functions and change their default settings. The Marble mouse is also very good for those users who have some problems moving their fingers or squeezing their hands.

These computer mice are strongly recommended for people with carpal tunnel syndrome, RSI or other hands and fingers conditions and the results are spectacular, as you don't need any kind of force in your fingers, tendons or wrist in order to operate this mouse. Kids seem also to handle this kind of mouse a lot easier and better than other mice.Besides, the unique and original shape allows both right handed and left handed people to use it safely. If I succeeded to make you at least curious, you can visit this web page and order one such mouse for only $30 or just find out some more stuff about it.
