This is a very generous topic as there are lots of weird computer mice in the world. In their pursuit of making unique and attracting computer mice that would be out of the ordinary and this way attract people to buy them, computer mice producers have tried different designs, some of which really weird and unusual. Look for example at this scary ghost computer mouse!

It looks like the ghost in Scary Movie, except the colours are the other way round: the eyes and mouth are black while the rest is white. It is a corded mouse and the eyes of the ghost are actually the two left and right click buttons and the little scroll wheel is situated between the eyes. I can’t say the design is very ergonomic, especially with the pointed end of the mouse that could be really annoying.

I think this gadget is the perfect gift for Halloween when ghosts and witches are very popular. Or it may be the perfect gift for your rebel friend who likes Gothic style and wears only dark clothes with bones printed on them and chains and all the stuff. Or you may keep this weird computer mouse as a scary accessory, because I can’t imagine using it for more than five minutes.

The first picture shows another weird computer mouse. This time some Russian kids turned out to have more imagination than it is necessary or even sane. They took a fake hand grenade, cut it in two and transformed it into a really weird computer mouse. They added all the necessary wires and even used the trigger as the left click mouse button. It is perfectly functional and looks very much like a real hand grenade, but it’s only a gadget, as you can see from the pictures above.

The colour is perfect, the shape, too. Just the underneath of this object shows you its real purpose and what it is used for. But if it rests comfortably on your desk and you don’t know what it is, you can surely mistake it for a real grenade and get frightened to death.

That is why I think this is a good gift for your enemies or for people with a really good sense of humor. After all, you don’t want your best friend to start screaming and call the bomb squad when he finds your gift under the Christmas tree. Of course, these are only two of the many examples of weird computer mice existing on the market, but unfortunately I do not have enough time and space to show you more than that, but I think you already have an idea about this kind of computer mice.

Fun Mouse Pads

I like jokes and caricatures, I like comedies and generally I like all funny things because they make me laugh and that feels nice. And when this funny thing is surrounded by a witty sarcasm and irony I can only enjoy it better. I am wearing a t-shirt that says :”Newton is dead, Einstein is dead and I ‘m not feeling very well”. So you understand why I really love funny and ironic mouse pads that have a message on. And the message does not necessarily mean that it has to be read by the person is addresses. It’s more like talking to yourself or asking a rhetorical question.

So I surfed the internet this morning looking for a couple of funny mouse pads to make my day. I know I could have picked up some others, but I prefered these two because I am only human , so I am subjective and I liked them most.

The first one is like a message to Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft and the father of Windows operating system. The message is :”If Bill Gates had a nicle for every time Windows crashed … Oh, wait, he does.” It’s pure and simple irony. It refers to the fact that Bill Gates earned a lot of money from producing Windows operating system. But we all know that. Now you must read between the lines and understand the actual meaning intended here: Bill Gates probably has so much money exactly because his Windows operating system crashes a lot , so it’s not a good product, but he sells it any way and his fortune is based on this. And if you pay even more attention you can see the penguin above the message written on the mouse pad and everybody knows this is the mascot for Ubuntu Operating system, produced by Linux, a rival software company for Microsoft.

If we are talking about fun mouse pads and software companies let’s talk about Mac. You all know that the representation of a bitten apple is the symbol of Apple Computers, right? Well, what could be funnier than having a Mac computer at home and getting and Apple mouse pad as a gift for your birthday? I think it’s nice and funny and I really like the colour. The shape is extraordinarily well designed and now it’s about pure but funa advertising. It’s not necessary to spell the name (Apple computers) anywhere because people will just know the minute they see your mouse pad.

Besides from the funny effect these mouse pads must be functional, too, because otherwise they end up in the trash. The first one is a regular square mouse pad and the second one has an irregular shape of a bitten apple. They are both made of isoprene foam that is very resistant to heat and stain and also washable. They both have a rubber backing to prevent then from slipping oof the desk while you are mousing. They are personalized mouse pads with a message on and if you want to change the message just upload your photo version and you can have your mouse pad in no time. The other one if offered as a gift to Apple customers on special occasions like Christmas.

Maybe we should purchase these fun mouse pads to make us smile every day or maybe we should remember how to do this without them.

Tiniest Computer Mouse

Many computer producers have claimed they have produced the world’s tiniest computer mouse. Of course, there are a lot of small computer mice on the market, but I think only two models qualify for this title. This happened because people felt the need to use smaller and smaller devices and technological devices are all the more appreciated the smaller they are. Not to mention the fact that now people use a lot portable computers and most of them need matching computer mice for them.

The first picture shows the finger mouse that is in fact a trackball mouse that can be placed on your finger in the trigger position and it can be operated so as to perform all possible operations needed. The index finger pushes the trigger button that acts like the left mouse button and the button on top of the mouse acts like the right click button. The little trackball is also placed on top and can be operated very easily and comfortably with your thumb.

You can find it only in the corded version , but the cord is not at all uncomfortable, as you can stick it to your finger together with the mouse. It is very small and light. And it can be used by both ;eft and right handed people. It is not very fast or sensitive, but it’s ok for this tiny mouse. It can be plugged to the USB or PS2 port of your computer and can be transported easily. Its sensitivity is about 800 dots per inch, but it’s pretty good considering the fact that it is so small.

The next mouse that claims to be the tiniest computer mouse is the Rotino mouse from Sigma. This mouse is meant to be used by portable laptops and is attached to an USB retractable cord. You can extend it when you plug the computer mouse to the USB port and stretch the cord for as long as you need it.

Its dimensions are 30 x 70 x 20-mm and it weighs only 40 grams. Unbelievable as it seems, it is a laser mouse and you can use it for a perfect mousing activity on your laptop while you are travelling. Its sensitivity is very good for its tiny dimensions and you can adjust it up to 1000 dots per inch. It costs about$25 and it extremely portable, as you can place it in your pocket and use it whenever you feel like it.It can be purchased in more colours : red, blue, black and gray.

It has the regular left and right clcik mouse buttons (even if in very reduced dimensions), with a little scroll wheel between them, totally functional. It is perfectly operable only with your index and middle finger. It isn’t even as long as your fingers and can be attached to your key chain if you don’t want to lose it. I am still amazed of how tiny thee devices are and of the fact that they look more like toys than real computer mice.

Some people have a lot of imagination and sometimes they use it in a constructive manner, to build or make something useful and nice, something to ease our lives or even to bring a little happiness or a smile on our faces. But sometimes these imaginative and innovative people use their imagination for their own purpose, to do something useless or, on the contrary, bad for others, even destructive. I honestly do not know in which category to include the person who invented the arrow computer mouse, or the people who put this idea into practice and manufactured and sold a computer mouse that is shaped like an arrow. Now, if I think about it a bit more, the design is interesting and original, but what about the comfort offered for the user? You have absolutely no support for the hand and you just can’t use only your fingers to operate the mouse, without leaning your hand onto something. Anyway, this is my personal opinion and everybody is entitled to one, so maybe you even like it. Some people surely did, as this kind of computer mouse was sold and even appeared in two different models.

The first model is the corded mouse that you can see in two of the pictures showed in this article, that is the red and black arrow computer mouse. Actually the name of this mouse is USB Arrow Optical Mouse and it was manufactured by Brando. This was meant to be an optical computer mouse that everyone can afford and a different shape computer mouse at the same time. It is an optical mouse that can be connected to the USB port of your computer with its retractable USB cord , has the classical left click and right click buttons with the scroll wheel between them , used for internet surfing or leafing really long documents. The optical sensor of this mouse allows a pretty good tracking of 1500 signals per second, never losing signal and working on any kind of surface except for glass, working just fine without a mouse pad. The design is easy to grab and ergonomic, or so they say. The cable that connects the mouse to the USB port is thin adn its length can be adjusted . It can also use the functions of zooming in and out when looking at a picture or photo. This mouse has a pretty high resolution of 800 dots per inch and is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS. It is smaller and lighter than most computer mice you know, weighing only 56 grams. The price is very accessible for all the people, as it sells for only $12-15. You can order it on the internet and also buy from specialized computer stores.

The other model of arrow computer mouse is the one in black and white. This time the computer mouse is wireless. As a matter of fact I think that the designer of this computer mouse intended to make it as an irony , as a metaphor of the pointer on the computer screen coming down on your desk and performing the “point and click ” operation. It is rather ironic, but the funny thing is the arrow computer mouse actually works really well and did not remain only a project , but an actual active and useful gadget. If you like to have special things, different things that some others do not dream to have, you can purchase this unusual mouse. besides, you are making a great bargain, too, as it sells for only $ 11-15, depending on the supplier.

In conclusion, my skepticism melt away and I actually think this is an original mouse that draws attention to itself. It does not matter which colour it is, black or white or red (even better); people will immediately stare at it . Not to mention the fact that the cordless version is so small and easy to transport, that you can put it in any tiny pocket or even in your purse and then take it out to use it on your desktop computer or even your laptop.

Cartoon Computer Mouse

Computers and computer mice are now part of everyday life, so we can say that they have entered all fields of activity. In this way it was not long before people from the entertainment business began using them in cartoons and sketches and they even started inventing jokes about computer mice and computer freaks. Look at the cartoon above: a amn comes at his office and can’t find his computer mouse. After some time he realizes there is a “mouse hole” next to his desk and he can also see the cord of his mouse getting out of it like a real mouse’s tail. It is obviously a humorous drawing that has as purpose to make fun of the name association between the real mouse – the animal and the computer mouse. Of course a computer mouse could never hide in a hole in the wall, but that’s exactly where the fun is.

One more example of a cartoon computer mouse – the cartoon above. It depects a computer mouse that is attached to a computer and sliced on a piece of cloth. this makes me think of those people who work in the computer industry and earn a living, that is “their every day bread” from working on computers all day long. So the conclusion is that the computer mouse becomes “the bread” for them, their source of income and a way of life after all.

But there are surely other ways in which you can use a cartoon computer mouse. Look at the three pictures that follow here and you will see that the computer mouse turned into some funny cartoon characters like: a hokey player, a pill and a green carpet. Some people may wonder what can you do with them. Well, if you are innovative and have a lot of imagination and maybe are not afraid to try new things, you could start a profitable business and choose one of the cartoons as your company’s logo. Ok, they could be logos for different companies, I get it. But why the cmputer mouse? What is the connection of a computer mouse with all these things: a hokey player, a pill and a carpet? The answer is quite simple again if you have imagination. All of them can be used as company’s logos according to the profile of the respective company – what is exactly its final product – sports equipment, pills (a pharmacy for example and a carpet dry cleaner’s).

But they can be associated with the computer mouse as you can do everything over the internet: you can access the company’s web site (I presume it has one and if it doesn’t start building one) and fill in the application for the service. For example you want to buy a T-shirt with your favourite football team from an online store – the store that has the third picture as a logo. You can access its web page, choose the model and size of the T-shirt that you want to buy – the offer is displayed on the web site and also the price. You leave the necessary data of your credit card and write the address where you want the T-shirt sent to and everything is ready. You just bought a nice T-shirt without having to get up from your chair. Besides, you can always be unique and choose to customize the T-shirt you want to buy with your name on it or maybe your photo. Just upload whatever photo you want printed on your T-shirt and the message you want written and now all you have to do is wait for the package to come and wear the nice looking T-shirt.

This cartoon can also be the logo of a company: of a pharmacy as I suggested before. You can do things exactly as I described them in the case of the sports store. But you should be careful though, as there are some pills in the pharmacy that can only be sold with a prescription. If you don’t have one, don’t order them. So if you are too tired or just too sick to get out of the house to buy some pills, order them from the online pharmacy that will take care to deliver them to you as soon as possible. Just stay in bed and get well soon!

How about this picture used as logo for a carpet dry cleaner’s? Isn’t it a good idea? It would be a great idea if they provide transport from your home to the dry cleaner’s, too. If this is the case – make sure you do that if you open one as there are more and more lazy people in this world – the customers just fill in the online form with the address, size of the carpet, credit card data and the time when they are at home and the online company will take care of everything else for them: pick up the carpet, bring it to the dry cleaner’s, clean it and send it back to the owner.

I have always liked people who have imagination and I have always loved things they can do when they are using this amazing feature that is specific to human beings. And I love original things. I guess the person who invented the gun shaped computer mouse is one of the people I am talking about. First, it seems like a crazy idea, but in fact it is really great and original when you come to think about it. Why should everyone have a computer mouse in a traditional shape just like millions of other computer users? Why shouldn’t you try something different.Or maybe you are just an addict gamer and want to add some more realism to your shooting games – you will just love it. Ok, don’t go that far as scare your parents or boss with it, as the design is very realistic and it really looks like a real gun.

Well, in fact the gun shaped computer mouse is not only different and crazy-shaped, but also very functional and performing excellent mousing job. Actually you will be lucky to find one on eBay or some other similar web site as it is no longer produced by Solware, the pruducing company. If you look carefully at it you will notice that you can use it as a normal computer mouse, as you can operate the right click and the left click with the buttons and also move its whole base or support for moving the cursor on the screen. The left click mouse is performed with the trigger and the right click with a button that can be found in the place where you keep your middle finger when holding this “gun”.

The realistic design can be explained by the fact that this gun shaped computer mouse was in fact built after the exact design of a real gun: Sig P230, so it is its perfect replica. But if you look close enough you will also see the support of the gun, that keeps it standing in a vertical position on your computer desk. Then it won’t be so hard to understand what is it exactly that it does. Because of its shape and the position of the two buttons, it can be used by both right handed and left handed people. The only problem seems to be with the left click button that doesn’t seem to work properly, but this only at the beginning, because after some time you realize that in fact pressing this button is a two phase process and the left click only functions when you press it all the way down. This mouse, too, does not need any software installed and works immediately you plug it in the USB port of your computer. It costs around $40 and is worth the money. It works pretty well and can be a real delight for gamers. The vertical position of the hand while using and the smooth and soft grips make it really comfortable to use and unlikely to cause any computer mouse related injuries . It is really fun to use and also ambidextrous, not only for children, but especially for them. It could be a nice for your children or addicted gamer friends, but you can enjoy usinf one for fun, too.

Have you ever noticed how much more simple is the life of a man? Nobody notices if all his clothes have the same colour, but he is considered good looking. He has only one pair of shoes that match to absolutely all his clothes, one bag, one watch, one mobile phone face (black, of course). In comparison, we , I mean women, are a lot more busier matching shoes and listick and purse and nail polish. When we go out we have to look perfect and obviously we have tons of clothes of all the colours of the rainbow, and more. When I think about it I am surprised that there are men painters, as men seem to like only black for everything: the TV set, the VCR, the remote control and all the other devices we may have in the house. I once told my husband that I wanted a red computer mouse and he thought I was hilarious. But I was not: I really wanted a red mouse!

This mouse is designed especially for women, so it is a bit smaller than a regular computer mouse. It fits the palm of a woman perfectly and offers a neat sleek surface, both comfortable and really beautiful. I told you: it is eye -catching and just wonderful. The two buttons and the scroll wheel are so well invited in this nice overall magic look, that you almost can’ t see them properly. It works like any other optical and wireless mouse, even in operations that require skill and resolution like photo editing or something similar. I guess I will be tempted to dress up like a Chinese woman only to feel the vibe, to feel that I belong to that world that only leaves hints and suggestions of what might be.

The price is a bit high if you compare it to a regular computer mouse, but if you think of it as a work of art made by Vivienne Tam, of course it is more than the $50 that you have to pay for this nice peony computer mouse.

WOW Computer Mouse

If you don’t know what is World of Warcraft or you are not such a big fan of computer games, do not purchase this item, nor read this article. You will just not understand why so many people want to buy this computer mouse so badly and are willing to give good money on it ($99). If you want a regular simple computer mouse, look further because you don’t need 15 buttons to your regular computer mouse just for surfing the internet or other similar things. As its name suggests it from the very beginning, this mouse is designed especially for the game World of Warcraft. You need so many functions for this game that it simply is not possible to use only the keyboard and a regular three button mouse for all of them. In fact Blizzard and SteelSeries have decided to collaborate with the sole purpose of creating a mouse dedicated for MMORPGs they called World of Warcraft computer mouse, quite an unusual mouse.

You might think that it is not the best idea to invent a computer mouse for a limited niche of people, just for the gamers playing WOW. Well, think again! There are over 11 million people playing WOW all over the world on a regular basis. And the gamers are usually addicted to a game they like most, so it is most likely that at least half of them want to purchase it and to have the whole set at home (Steelseries also released the special WOW keyboard and mouse pad).

You need appropriate software to make the mouse work and I recommend to you to download the latest version directly from the web site www.steelseries.com, not from the CD delivered together with the box, as it may not be the latest version. The software is very easy to install and the mouse is recognized immediately by the computer. The first impression is that the mouse is already part of the game, with its metallic look and the light coming from underneath. Speaking of which, this is a feature I have not met in any other computer mouse so far – you can choose the colour of the light that surrounds your WoW computer mouse.

It seems to be a little bigger than the usual computer mice and has a rather unique design, with two side-rests on each side of the mouse. They look like fish fins and I don’t really understand why it had to be two of them. First I thought they were the thumb rest and the mouse for ambidextrous people, but it is made only for right handed people. I think it is meant for the stability of the mouse which is indeed quite impressive. The little Teflon feet of the mouse make it move smoothly on the mouse pad or desk. You can immediately see that this mouse is intended for gamers: it moves very fast and smooth at the same time, it is very accurate and precise and has 15 buttons. Each of the buttons comes with a default setting , having the functions of the buttons adjusted for the game of Warcraft. You can change these settings if you want to and you can decide what functions you consider appropriate for each of the buttons. You also can change the accuracy of you mouse within the range 800-3200 dpi. The scroll is used to zoom in and out, of course, and there are no more than five buttons that you can operate with your thumb.

The mouse connects to the computer through a USB port and is compatible only with Windows. Too bad it does not have a version that is compatible with Mac OX, too.
WoW computer mouse proved to be a real gaming mouse because once you start playing WoW you see the utility of so many buttons as each of them can be used to perform a certain operation in the game: auto target, dismount, target self, toggle bags – you understand what I’m talking about. But just because it has so many buttons and functions it can take you quite some time to get used to it and remember all the functions of all the buttons and succeed to use them properly. This would be the only inconvenient, but any way it is a very good mouse but only when used for this game. If you use it for other purposes you will notice that it could be a little weird, especially when you press one of the many buttons by mistake. In conclusion, this is the perfect gift for a person who loves World of Warcraft and would know how to appreciate it.

The bottom line is that you will really like this mouse if you are a fervent gamer. The design is impressive as the mouse looks like a real war machine, all shiny and metallic, illuminated. Even the cord is special, covered in a kind of fabric so that it prevents accidental coiling or slipping. Too bad there is no wireless version of this mouse. I wish there were, as I prefer wireless computer mice. The shape is ergonomic and you even have a side-rest for the thumb. Again I wish they had a version for the left handed persons. It is covered with a smooth cool material and feels comfortable and reassuring in your hand.
When I first saw this computer mouse I felt nostalgic because it reminded me of the times when all teenagers and young people were Star Wars fans and they were all dressed like their favourite characters at parties and we all had the walls of our rooms decorated with pictures from the movies. Kids like stories a lot. Especially the ones where some amazing character does some magic and makes your wish come true. Don’t we all? Even now, when I am no longer a child, I still love the stories with the goldfish who is rescued and in exchange makes three or only one wish come true. Do I believe in magic? No, I simply like this story because it reminds me of my childhood years and of the happiness we found in every simple thing, like a story with a talking fish. That is why I couldn’t become a fisherman: I just couldn’t catch the fish and kill them. I wanted to talk to them, to swim next to them. I like fish: both as an animal ans as a meal. The holiday season is coming and I know for sure that all the people in the world want to decorate their houses for Christmas so they could look fabulous. Traditional decorations are nice, but people want more and more every year. That is why many have thought about decorating their computers, too, because they are part of the house, right? The monitor is pretty easy to decorate, using some tinsel around it, and so is the mouse pad. But what about the dear old computer mouse? How do we decorate it for Christmas so that it can look really festive?

Don’t worry, you are not the first to think about it: some people had the same idea and they have already put it into practice. So now you can purchase a computer mouse with a special festive design – it’s called The White Christmas mouse. It was hand-painted and sparkle varnished and it’s white, as the name hints. Wait, there’s more: it was decorated with a nice white ribbon and a bunch of white berries on top of it. It looks really nice and you can even use it as a Christmas tree decoration, but I can’t see how you could possibly use it on your computer with all the decorations and stuff attached to it. I have another great idea: why don’t you decorate your computer mouse yourself? You don’t have to put tinsel or berries or I don’t know what other stuff attached to it that could prevent you from using it. But you could use some nice Christmas stickers. Try to find some nice stickers that really stick because otherwise they will be half detached from your mouse, both unaesthetic and uncomfortable. Then you can use some permanent markers. I advise you to use silver ones as they look good on any kind of mouse colour. Make sure you don’t use Markers that are in vivid colours or even black markers that are not permanent because the colour gets on your clothes and hands. Another idea is to glue some very thin tinsel around the base of your computer mouse to make it look festive but still usable. If your mouse has a cord you are fortunate: wrap some silver or gold tinsel around the cord and it will look spectacular. You don’t need to exaggerate, just add some festive features to your computer and mouse.

But if there aren’t many ways in which you can decorate a computer mouse, there certainly are a lot of ways to turn your old computer mouse into a Christmas decoration. As you can see in the picture below you can use some pieces of fabric to cut the moustache and the beard and also use something round for the eyes. Then glue all the pieces together on your old computer mouse and add a Santa cap on and here’s your Santa Mouse, ready to be hung in the tree. Coloured computer mice usually used by children are also the first to be broken by them. Don’t throw them away when they are broken! Keep them and use them as decorations for your Christmas tree.

How about a special decoration for the door of a computer enthusiast? It is a little strange, but it looks a lot like a real one. And it is cheap, too. Just look through the unused or broken computer parts and you will find enough components for a nice Christmas decoration. Put them all together and connect them with an electric cord or string, add some small light bulbs and there it is: a real work of art. Don’t worry if it will not be appreciated by everybody or if people will look at it (and at you) a little strangely. It’s yours, it’s hand made and it represents you. What else can you ask for?
