The Mouse Pad Message

Published by MouseArena, on February 28th, 2010, in the categories: Design, Mouse Pad, concept mouse, news

Mouse pads are not just simple accessories for your computer or a surface of support for your computer mouse. They can also be used to transmit a message or to make a personalized gift to someone you love. This is easier than you thought. There are so many specialized web sites nowadays that sell customized mouse pads, that all you have to do is choose one of them. You can do that once you find the best features for your mouse pad: to be made of good quality materials, possibly recycled, so that you could also help nature by being ecological.

Then you must consider the mouse surface - it would be better for it to have some non-slipping backing that can prevent it from slipping off your desk when you use the computer mouse on it. The cover is preferable to be some kind of cloth so that it can offer enough adherence for your mouse, but at the same time to prevent it from slipping away and ensuring a nice and easy movement of the computer mouse on its surface. The thickness should be perfect: too thick mouse pad tend to be uncomfortable and injure your wrist while too thin ones may offer too little protection.

Now let's talk about clear examples of message mouse pads. The first one is a very special mouse pad that can be used as a statement and example for others and also as a gift for people in an autism association for example or the parents of such children or even as gifts for people in an awareness campaign. Autism is a very unusual illness and it can't be cured, you can only improve the children's health condition. Be the first to set an example and accept these children in your life and buy one of these message mouse pads here for only $6.

Here you can buy a perfect gift for your mother for $12: a personalized mouse pad. You can upload a photo with you and your siblings and offer a nice message mouse pad as a gift for Mother's Day and you will see the happy smile on your mother's face. Write your names, too and maybe a short message and a simple thing as a mouse pad turns into the most precious gift in the world.

You have the possibility to choose the mouse pad, the background, the message and the photo you want printed on it, so your gift will reflect your personality and everybody knows that presents that come from the heart are the most valuable. Whether you buy them for your friends, family members, teachers or other people that you love for different occasions, you will be able to combine a nice and useful mouse pad and a message from the heart, together with a picture of you, all together in a nice message mouse pad. Just don't forget to use every opportunity to show your love and affection for the people around you and make them happy with such a little thing.

Computer Lap Pillow With Mouse Area

New things get new problems. Do you remember the time when you bought your first desktop computer? You had to sit in front of your desk for hours and finally give up the uncomfortable position only to return in the same position a few minutes later. Now we have laptops and cn carry them with us everywhere: in bed, on the sofa, when we go for a picnic, in the restaurant or in the airport.

But you can't just open it and put it anywhere. You must be careful not to damage its screen or break it or something like that. but sometimes it's not at all about the laptop's safety, but rather your own comfort. For example when you stay in bed and want to use your laptop you put it in your lap, but after a few hours of sitting up your back hurts and you want a more comfortable position. Not to mention the fact that you can't rest your hands on anything while in bed. Besides, the laptop may get overheated if its fans are not cooling it because you accidentally put a blanket over the fans.

In this case the best idea and solution is to use a laptop support. They are not very well-known and my opinion is that the companies producing them saw an opportunity and took it and in the future this practice will be a lot more developed. So all you have to do now is purchase a lap pillow for your laptop and, if you just don't like using the touch pad and prefer using a regular computer mouse instead, one lap pillow with a mouse area incorporated.

To be honest, I did not know such things existed until I started running this article. But i was amazed to find out that if you want something, then it is likely to find it on the internet. Now look at the two pictures illustrating my words and tell me I am right. The first piture shows a lap desk, a mini desk in fact. it is a portable desk /pillow combo and you can use it for many activities. It is made of a wooden skeleton that is covered with stuffed materials and has some small pillows around it.

It is perfect to be used as a small table when you want to eat in bed, but also as a mini portable desk for your laptop. It offers a stable and firm surface for using your laptop and has enough space for your mouse, too. the little coloured pillows are detachable, so just lie down on your bed and enjoy your activity. If you want more information about it and some more ideas like that , visit this web site.

Now, the second picture is that of a lap desk , too, but this time it is produced by another company and is made of other materials. however, the purpose is still the same: to offer comfort for you or whoever uses a laptop in bed or any other place instead of the desk or table. As you can see there is plenty of space for both the laptop and the mouse and there is also a wrist rest that is covered with some soft neoprene cloth. Its surface is hard and made of plastic, but covered at the edges with this anti-slipping neoprene material. It is very easy to use and it even has a handle to get it and deposit it somewhere when we are no longer using the laptop. Really useful in my opinion. You can order it here for about $25.

The GreenPixel Way

Published by MouseArena, on January 18th, 2010, in the categories: news

How do you describe a new website which does not have anything like it anywhere on the web? I was thinking i should just tell you to go to http://icanhaz.me and see for yourself what this website is all about. But then I realized that many of you are going to abandon that thought and it would really be a shame if you didn’t hear about the latest GreenPixel invention: the funny URL generator.

When you go to http://icanhaz.me, the first thing that’s going to capture your attention is the huge cat with a passive smile. It has the same color as Garfield yet the smile reminds me of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. Whatever the case is, this cat looks pretty cool so we have a cool mascot for a cool new website. What does this website do that makes it so special you ask? Well, aside from giving you a couple of things to laugh about, it’s a very original method to attract traffic to a certain website: the anonymous link.

http://icanhaz.me can give you an Icanhaz link which, whenever it is clicked, it will lead the clicker to the website of your choice. In order to “configure” this option and get this link, you have to go http://icanhaz.me. In the first blank white box, you have to type the word or words that come after the slash in the web address. For example, if you choose “coca-cola”, the link that icanhaz will give you http://icanhaz.me/coca-cola (with the condition that no one else has chosen coca cola before you did). After you typed in “coca cola” it’s time to move on to the second white box. This is where you have to paste the link of the website to which http://icanhaz.me/coca-cola will redirect all its clickers, for example, the official Coca Cola website (it’s not mandatory for the icanhaz link and the real link to actually have a connection).

And this is how you get your anonymous link. I can get my own http://icanhaz.me/mangojuice which can lead to an online store that sells Nike clothes. Like I said, one link does not have to be connected to another and I think that’s why they call it “the funny URL”. You never know where live (or internet) may take you. This is how you can bring a lot of visitors if you have a website that makes profit from publicity. Post the icanhaz link on different blogs or forums and the people clicking it will be redirected to your website. The advantage is that if they saw the regular URL, they probably would have never clicker the link and here you have the benefit of users not knowing what they’re getting themselves into.

Putting all jokes aside, http://icanhaz.me can be a lot of fun if you randomly type in words after “.me/” and see where that takes you too. I guarantee that some folks have chosen the weirdest keywords for even weirder and funnier websites. It’s time to see what kind of fun I can haz me.

Solid Brass Computer Mouse

Published by MouseArena, on January 13th, 2010, in the categories: news

When brilliant minds get bored they invent something that will surely puzzle you: either really innovative or rather crazy. I will only try to present the facts and let you draw your own concluions and be the judge of it. Well, the story begins with a brilliant mind housed by the lazy body of a young student attending the Michigan Tech for the second year of study. My guess is that he was really bored and couldn't find anything to stimulate his great mind work properly, so he started combining things. The funny thing about it is that he tried to combine very different things belonging to different fields and different periods in time. To be more precise he tried to mate a computer with a pile of brass. And he called this project The Steampunk PC and later the computer was called the Telecalculograph . Doesn't it sound really interesting already? Well, I am not going to talk about the Steampunk PC, because I will focus on its weird peripheral caleed "The Bug", the Steampunk solid brass computer mouse. But if you are interested to see the whole creation process you can visit this guy's blog.

The Steampunk PC mouse that you can see in the pictures was built by designer Jake who thought that the  needed a suitable mouse for the Telecalculograph I told you about. The Bug is very small and comfortable and is made of brass, knobs and keys.  The total cost of this unusual computer mouse was the amazing sum of $5 and was build mostly of things taken from the parts bin where he collected all the parts and bits of electronic devices over the years. It was made as a home made combination of real computer mouse parts and cables and wires and a lot of improvisations made of brass. The result is surprisingly working and it connects in some way to the brass computer.

As you can imagine it is a lot heavier than a normal computer mouse, but its author says it is a reassuring feeling to really "feel" something when you hold this device, as the plastic of most computer parts makes him feel artifical and ugly. He may be right, you know. I remember I used to climb my grandma's attic and I would find a lot of old stuff deposited there. There were a lot of brass things around there, as in the past this was the basic material for things around the house. And I remember that the brass pots that I would touch felt cold at the beginning and then borrowed my heat and felt warm and nice and polished and smooth. I guess he tried to describe the same feeling.

This Jake guy says that most brass parts that he used to build the solid brass computer mouse were taken from an old toilet mechanism. I take his word for that. What I appreciate most is his innovation and imagination, even if the final result did not replace Jake's regular computer mouse on his desk (though he says it works just fine, even if a bit slower - which is understandable). The Bug has two large gears as its base. Then there is a cilindrical piece  of solid brass in the middle that was taken from a scrap bin from the University where he is studying. It is pretty heavy and kind of stabilizes the entire construction. A real circuit board is hidden under a piece of steel usually used in corners, that was after that covered with brass. There you can see an orange LED glowing in order to make this weird device quite similar to a normal computer mouse and at the same time to fit the yellow-orange colour of the whole system. At the opposite side you can see another gear used as a scroll wheel with two handles on the sides. The entire construction is held together by a lot of wires and screws ans strangely, it really seems to look like a computer mouse. Those things that look like door handles actually press some buttons and act like the right and left mouse buttons. All the components come from different strange sources: a spring is taken from a mechanical pencil, a gear from an alarm clock, some other parts come from an old toilet seat and so on. The connection with the computer, I am sorry - the Telecalculograph - is made through a normal USB cord wich was peeled off its plastic skin and was covered in cloth in order to get an antique look.

There is also an optical sensor incorporated and it peeps through the hole of one of the two gears that form the base of this solid brass computer mouse.

The funny thing about this mouse - The Bug - is that it actually works and you can operate the computer with it. It is just another unusual way of doing somehting special, of using intelligence and imagination to do something that can actully works. I appreciate inventivity and courage most of all at this guy. It may not be the invention of the telephone, but it is a start. I am sure that great inventions started in the same way, that inventors experimented a lot before getting to actually make a true invention. But this shows the power of the human mind and this is amazing. If you are skeptical and say that this is rather a weird thing with no apparent use, I invite you to do the same and see what you can accomplish.

In the end: Well done, boy! And never lose this amazing inventivity orf yours!

Computer Spin Mouse

Published by MouseArena, on January 8th, 2010, in the categories: news

Actually the real name of the computer spin mouse is the Cyber Sport Orbita mouse. Cyber Sport is an Australian company that decided to provide only "different" computer products to people. This is an extremely unusual mouse, not because it looks ugly , but because it is different. It is all round and white, like a bar of soap for children. And it stays on a kind of little plate, that actually is the dock for recharging it. It is a wireless computer mouse in fact and it works extremely well once you have learnt how to do it.  It is far from the classic picture we have in our minds when talking about computer mice. It is round and soft, without buttons, scroll wheel and everything that defines a computer mouse. The exterior of the mouse is made of silicone and it feels very comfortable and soft compared to the other computer mice. The most unusual thing about the computer spin mouse, or the Orbita mouse is the fact that you don't have any buttons to press. The left click function is performed by tapping any part of the mouse once. But the right click function is more peculiar: you squeeze the mouse to do it and its entire body reacts to this. In fact this is the most important disadvantage, too. This mouse is too sensitive and reacts too promptly to your squeezing of the mouse, so you need some time to get used to it.

I usually admire people who pay attention to detail , so this time I was impressed by the job done, starting with the box in which the mouse was delivered. It was no ordinary box with some plastic wrapping around the  mouse, but it was a square box that opened diagonally, offering very easy access to the product inside and at the same time offering the desired protection. I fell in love with it at first sight, as I compared it with a big fresh mushroom. I held it in my hand and that felt very comfortable and nice unlike the hard surface of most computer mice. It stays quietly on its charging deck, like a white cup of tea on its little plate. This deck has two lights to show you when the mouse is in the correct position and when it is fully charged. It is a wireless mouse, so it needs batteries and a recharche place as I mentioned. You can plug it and the receiver in your computer USB port and it will be recognized immediately. Even if it works on batteries it provides a long life for them, as it automatically "sleeps" after five minutes of being unused, so it is energy saver.

The only problem might be at the beginning because you need to spend some time calibrating it and installing all its features and configuration drivers and also adjusting the sensitivity, accuracy and resolution. After you help it realize where "up" is, this 3 dimensional scroll wheel mouse is ready to roll. I advise you to be patient and give it a day or two until you get used to it and avoid squeezing it by mistake. Actually we are all used to a firm grip on all the other computer mice, that is why this hyper sensitive mouse reacts so promptly when we are only trying to move it.

The software of this mouse is pretty complex to let you decide if you want to use it as a computer mouse, a multimedia keyboard or a 3D multi-axis controller. It sprogrammable memory can save up to ten profiles and you can access them when you want to use it in a certain profile.

I think this mouse is God's gift for people who were always complaining about having to scroll the too long web pages looking for something or browsing the interminable documents searching a certain thing. It can actually perform a 360 degrees scrolling without a problem.

It has an ergonomic cylindrical design that makes it perfect for fitting in your palm and avoids the long-discussed repetitive stress injuries and makes computer mouse use a pleasant activity instead of a painful one.

What is really amazing about this mouse is the fact that, once you calibrated it, it never loses orientation and always knows which way is up, even though it offers both a vertical and horizontal scrolling. Another strong point in its favour is the fact that is works within a considerable range with 2.4 GHtz radio frequency and the receiver always gets the exact signal and message, without any disturbances and interferences.

This mouse can be disassembled for cleaning and also has an extra ring that ensures a low friction. It is compatible with Windows XP, Vista and also Mac OX. Its resolution is pretty good, 800DPi, but it can be better to have a bigger one if you want to use te Photoshop properly, even though it is kind of nice to be able to zoom in and out of a picture just by scrolling this mouse. However, browsing the internet pages and endless forums can be a pleasant experience with this peculiar mouse. It definitely is not a gaming mouse, but you can use it in so many other fields and you can find it so useful . The price, almost $100 is another disadvantage . Let's hope the prices will go down, as it happens when the product is no longer the latest release on the market.
