The computer mouse is one of the best computer peripherals and one of the best computer accessories which have been invented. Just think about using the computer without using the mouse; even the most basic tasks would be very difficult, if not impossible to do. You would not be able to play games, use certain programs such as the image editing ones, and so on. The process of using the computer would be really difficult. There are different types of computer mouse devices, such as the mechanical ones, the optical ones and the laser ones.

The mechanical mouse devices are the ones which have that rubber ball underneath them and which uses the movements of the ball in order to transmit data to the computer, and as a result, to move the computer cursor. The problem with these mouse devices is the fact that they usually collect dust and filth where the rubber ball is located and as a result the owner must clean it once in a while. In what follows I am going to tell you how to properly clean the computer mouse.

The first thing that you need to do is to disconnect the mouse from the computer. You will have to remove the cable from the computer jack or from the USB port, depending on the type of the mouse. You might have to turn-off the computer as well, but that once again depends on the type of mouse. Now you will have to remove the mouse ball and in order to do so you will have to twist the lid in an anti-clockwise rotation. Once you have done this you need to apply some alcohol on a cloth and then you will have to rub the ball with it.

You will also need to clean the rings of the lid and the interior of the mouse as well. The best way to do so is with a cotton swab, like the ones you use to clean your ears. Apply alcohol on them and use them to clean the rings and the interior of the mouse. You can also used compressed air in order to remove the dirt which you can not remove with the cotton swabs. The rings can also be cleaned with tweezers. Once you have done this all you have to do is to place the ball back in the mouse and close the lid.

The mouse should work OK now, but if it doesn’t then you should check it out as there might still be some dirt inside it. The optical mouse can also be cleaned. All you have to do is disconnect the mouse and then to clean the pointer with some alcohol. This is how you should clean the computer mouse.
