Ergo Computer Mouse

It is not easy to find the best ergonomic computer mouse, as there are so many models from so may companies. And besides that there isn't an universal solution for everybody just like there aren't identical people in this world. We all have our likes, dislikes, preferences and personal hand shape. That is why my advice is to try many ergonomic mice before you decide which one to keep. They are quite expensive exactly because of their ergonomic features and I would hate to see you throwing money out of the window for a computer mouse that just is not compatible with you.

They say it is better to prevent than to treat and that is exactly the case with using an ergonomic computer mouse. The companies that produce these ergonomic mice advertise them as helping you get rid of all the health problem caused by a long mouse overuse. But we must not wait until we already have these illnesses and syndromes, but purchase these mice with the purpose of avoiding them. Some people might think that doctors overreact when they are talking about computer related illnesses. It is a serious matter, believe me. When you use a regular computer mouse usually you keep your paml down and use the mouse with the hand in this position. But exactly this position is the one that allows your wrists to be pressed against the desk edge or the mouse and this leads to a poor blood circulation in your hands and if the problem persists it may even lead to arthritis and other illnesses. That is why it is recommended to use an ergonomic mouse that avoids this position and offers protection for your wrist.

The solutions are multiple and they can differ quite a lot according to the producing company and the mouse model. There's the Evoluent mouse for example that is a bit higher and bigger than the usual computer mouse. It offers your hand a natural relaxing position and lifts the wrist from the surface of the desk, thus avoiding the pressure put on it. An extraordinary thing about this mouse is the fact that it has been molded after the exact shape of a human hand and , besides, it is provided in different sizes, according to the size of your hand. The special indentions for your fingers offer support and comfort and also a good mousing, without problems.

Some other people argue that in fact the best position of the hand and arm when using the mouse is the side one: to rest your hand on the side. They say that the palm down position makes the bones and tendons flex and stay like that to the whole duration of the activity involving computer mouse use. That is why they invented the vertical computer mouse, the so-called stick-mouse or Renaissance mouse that you can see in the picture below. It may look like a joystick, but it acts like a mouse. The Zero tension ergonomic mouse uses the same principle and the hand has a "handshake position" and rests comfortably, without any pain.
No matter what kind of ergonomic mouse you use, they all have been tested and have been proven to actually relief pain and eliminate the cause of all computer related injuries. The most important thing, however, is to find the perfect one for you. I will give you a list with the best ergonomic computer mice and they are used to avoid or eliminate the repetitive stress injuries or the carpal tunnel syndrome or any other injury of the hand. Usually these injuries appear in the case of people who not only use the computer mouse too much and for many hours, but also make the same movements again and again, with force and tension in the hand and fingers. Fingers go numb after a certain period of time, especially in gamers. So here are some examples to choose from when you want to purchase an ergonomic computer mouse: 3M wireless and wired ergonomic Rennaisance mouse, Evoluent wireless and wired ergonomic mouse, Zero tension ergonomic mouse with Scroll wheel, Logitech wireless and wired Trackman wheel mouse, Logitech wireless optical Trackman mouse USB or PS2, Wireless ergonomic mouse pen USB, Wireless laser pointer presenter mouse pen USB, Finger mouse, No hands mouse (ot the computer mouse for feet - that looks like a pair of pedals), Foot Time foot controlled mouse for PC or Mac. You can find these with a more detailed description of every mouse and even the possibility to purchase the one you think fits you on this web site that deals mainly with ergonomic devices.

But except for purchasing an ergonomic computer mouse you should also follow some useful and common sense rules: use your hands in turns with your computer mouse, take a break every couple of hours and stretch your legs and arms, don't squeeze the mouse too hard, avoid using a wrist rest as it block blood circulation no matter how soft it is, try to move the computer mouse by using your arm and not only your wrist try to keep your hand at the same level with your elbow, not in a descendant position.
In the end I hope you found all this information useful and "Happy and healthy mousing!".

I used to use the 3m mouse for 6months until my shoulder started hurting. I found it really hard to get the mouse cursor where i wanted it. I now use the DXT Mouse from City Ergonomics whivh has really helped me.
