Ergonomic Cordless Mouse

All computer mice producers have shown an increased concern for producing ergonomic devices, both because they are demanded by the clients and because it is better to show an improvement in the working conditions offered by modern mice in order to avoid all the conditions caused by the computer mice overuse. Logitech proves the biggest and the best computer mice producer and has released almost exclusively ergonomic computer mice in the past few years. What people should know is that these computer mice are not called "ergonomic" for nothing or just because it is fashionable this way or maybe because of their unusual and uneven shape. There have been studies and researches done, and doctors being consulted regarding the design and the real utility of these ergonomic computer mice. There are still some debates regarding the position of the hand during computer mouse use, wether it is better to be vertical, "hand shake position" or normal, in a resting position, others say it's the firm grip that must be avoided and so on. If you come to think about it the best way to avoid all the conditions caused by computer mouse overuse is to stop using it. But some people just can't afford doing it because it is their job and they earn a living this way or they just can't give it up because their whole world revolves around the computer - and this is the case of the younger generations that seem to socialize more and more in a virtual space and , besides, they are the most affected by the Repetitive Stress Injuries and Carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis , De Quervain's disease and bad blood circulation - all caused or worsen by the repetitive moves made by the hand when using the computer mouse and also the pressure put on the wrist during computer mouse use.

Let's see what are the most successful ergonomic cordless computer mice sold lately and what are the features that make them so useful and pain reliefing. As I mentioned before Logitech comes with the biggest number of ergonomic computer mice, especially cordless versions, either optical or laser. Some of the best known Logitech ergonomic cordless computer mice are: Logitech VX Revolution, Logitech VX Nano, Logitech RX 650, Logitech VB 20, Logitech V 220, Logitech MX 1100 and many, many others. If you look at them carefully, you will notice that they all have a thumb support in order to make it rest comfortably there, without having to be kept up and in this way to cause some serious problems at the thumb tendons . Then all of them have placed all the mouse buttons in a very convenient way, so that you don't have to stretch your fingers or thumbs if you want to operate a certain button. They are very handy and can be operated with natural light moves. Computer mice are made from lighter materials in order to be ergonomic and allow the user to operate them without much effort, using comfortable moves. This is also helped by the decision of the manufacturers to improve the movements of the mouse on the working surface by using Teflon covered little feet. They allow the mouse to move freely on the mouse pad and at the same time ensure enough resistance to prevent slipping away.

There are also other features that were used in most models of computer mice among which the fact that they all have now a very "smart" scroll wheel - the hyper fast scrolling function. You no longer have to make dozens of repetitive moves when browsing the internet or leafing very long text documents looking for specific information. In the past you had to scroll again and again until your index finger got sore, but now the smart scroll allows you to "jump" over twelve or more pages with a single scroll movement. Or you can even make a strong move and scroll until you press a special button to stop the spinning of the wheel.

Some of these mice, for example Logitech VX Revolution , have another function of zooming in and out with only one click of the button, making things easier and operating the mouse with fewer moves.

Then the computer mice designed especially for gamers, some of whom are really affected by RSI due to the repetitive and numerous movements they have to perform during the shooting games especially, now have a bigger number of buttons that can be operated with different fingers in order to spread the functions to more than two fingers and in this way leaving them time to rest in turn and avoid getting numb or cold because of a bad blood circulation.

All the scroll wheel now work four ways, that is up and down and also on the sides. This, too, limits the numbers of movements you have to do with your fingers and hands. The design itself is ergonomic in the way that it tries to imitate very well the design of the interioir of the human palm where this device is supposed to fit perfectly in order to allow a comfortable utilisation of the computer mouse. The shape of the mouse has become rounder and leaner, allowing the hand wrist to rest comfortably in a netural position without hving to be forced to work in a difiicult steep position, in a different angle than its normal position.

The materials used are also important for the ergonomics of the computer mouse. For example all the mouse edges have been covered with smooth rubber that allows a firm grip and a comfortable use, without having to hold it tight in order not to slip away.On the contrary, this material is so useful that you barely have to touch the mouse to make it move, almost without an effort. The fact that all these mice are cordless may only matter in the fact that you can make wider moves with the mouse now, without being restricted by themouse cord. And wider moves mean that you use your whole arm when operating the mouse, which is highly recommended by the doctors when talking about ergonomics.

Well, I am certain that there are a lot more models of other ergonomic cordless mouse on the market, but I would need a lot more space and time to talk about all of them and I am afraid I could not cover all bases. But my advice is to use the ergonomic mouse that you feel most comfortable with, not the one that is the most expensive because not always the price reflects the best quality.Try several and choose the best one FOR YOU.
