Unlike wired mouse and keyboard, wireless keyboard and mouse will not receive power from the computer. They work on batteries in order to operate. So the very first thing to do is to know the location where these batteries need to be placed. Turn your wireless keyboard and mouse and you will find one compartment box. Upon removing the cover, you will find + and – points where you can place the batteries and can start using your wireless mouse and keyboard.
Once you are done with placing the batteries, next thing to do is find a comfortable place where you can place both wireless mouse and keyboard. Make sure that the place that you select for mouse and keyboard should be close to the wireless receiver that you will attach to your computer system.
After finding an appropriate place for wireless keyboard and mouse, install the software using CD that you will get with wireless keyboard and mouse. Important point to note is that if you are having Windows XP installed on your PC then there is no need of installing any additional software. Simply plug-in the wireless receiver and it will recognize the new hardware attached to the computer that is the wireless mouse and keyboard. However if you are using an older version of Windows Operating System, you have to install the software that can be done by inserting the CD in the CD ROM and following the simple instructions.
Once you complete installation, next step is to connect the wireless receiver to your computer system, but in this case too you have to check for the Windows operating system. If you have latest version of Windows operating system you can plug in the receiver in your computer and it will start sending and receiving signals from keyboard and mouse but if you are using old version of Windows, then you have to you need to connect wireless mouse and keyboard to receiver via USB cable. Once the receiver configures the mouse and keyboard, you will see one message on the screen like “The new hardware is installed and ready to use”. This message indicates that you can start using your wireless mouse and keyboard. Make sure that wireless receiver is away from devices like telephone, TV and radio etc. Also the distance between wireless mouse and keyboard from the receiver should not be more than 6 feet.
It is always advisable to test the latest hardware that you have installed on your computer system. Testing is necessary in order to make sure that both wireless mouse and keyboard are working properly or not. Start using the mouse by clicking on any particular file or folder. In the same way open any text document like Word Pad or MS Word and start typing in there to check whether all the keys are responding or not. Check all the keys of the keyboard as in case of any fault, you can directly replace the device.
Installing wireless mouse and keyboard does not require any prior knowledge of computer. Only make sure that you follow all the steps in sequence while installing wireless mouse and keyboard.
