Nowadays computers are becoming more and more addictive and we try to understand many new things about it because it upgrades itself daily with new features and we must know everything about it, don't we? The latest thing to learn about computer tricks to entertain your friends or make you work faster is how to use a computer without a mouse.

You can buy a touch pad and use it instead of a mouse and also you can use a track ball which is like a mouse but instead of moving around the mouse on the mouse pad you will  use just your finger to move the ball made out of rubber to the top if the base.

You have other options on how to work with your computer without a mouse for instance so set up you Windows to use your keyboard instead of the mouse with its MouseKeys. You can use this option in many cases like having a mouse problem and taking time to replace it, or not affording a new one or just getting it out to be cleaned. We will present you with two options which will help you use move the cursor with your keyboard. For the ones that use laptops you can hold down the Fn key and you can now use the numeric keypad in the center of the keyboard to move the 'new' mouse. When you enable MouseKeys you will see on the tray bar a mouse key icon.

Windows has built this tool that we call MouseKeys to allow the control if the pointer with the numeric keypad from your own and persona keyboard. If you want to use such a tool you can go to the Control Panel then press the Accessibility Options and them Mouse tab after that checking Use MouseKeys.  You have also another way to enable the MouseKeys options and this is by pressing left ALT and left SHIFT and NUM LOCK keys all together.

Please do remember that this will work only of you press simultaneously the left side SHIFT and ALT because if you pres the right side keys this would not work. When the MouseKeys option is enabled you can easily disabled it by just pressing the NUM LOCK key. Here is the list of keys that you will use from you keyboard to navigate your cursor after you have enabled the MouseKeys option:

2 - Move Down
8 - Move Up
4 - Move left
6 - Move Right
7 - Move Diagonally Top Left
9 - Move Diagonally Top Right
3 - Move Diagonally Bottom Right
+  - Simulate Mouse Double Click
- - Simulate Mouse Right Click
* - Simulate Both Mouse Buttons Click at Once

Do keep in mind that the cursor will move quite slowly and you will have to go to the Settings window and start adjusting the top speed and its acceleration to its highest performance. To set this speed at which the cursor of the mouse will move at its maximum speed when using your keyboard option you will have to hold down the direction key under the Pointer speed option and drag the slider until it hits the highest option. And you would want to do the same for the acceleration phase.

Another option to use your computer without a mouse is the Mouse emulator that you will have to enable and then you shall see a Mouse Emulator icon directly into the tray of the bar. This is a very small program of 36 kb and also a free one that will allow you to control the cursor by using also you keyboard. This is almost the same thing but with a different approach. The only advantage to this option is the fact that there are no settings that you have to set up or windows to find and check. You just have to download the program and then extract it. After this you would want to run the mousemu.exe and do remember that if you want this to work the NUM LOCK key has to be pressed before you start any type of process because otherwise the Mouse Emulator will not work at all.

Here is the list of keys that you will have when using the Mouse Emulator that will control the cursor of the mouse from your personal keyboard:
5 - Move Down
8 - Move UP
4 - Move Left
6 - Move Right
1 - Simulate Mouse Single Left Click
2 - Simulate Mouse Right Click
3 - Simulate Mouse Middle Click
  7 - Mouse wheel up - Scroll
  9 - Mouse wheel down  - Scroll
CTRL + 0 - This will Enable or Disable the Mouse Emulator as you may wish.

The best thing about this option is the diagonal movement that simply combines the horizontal and vertical keys thus to move the cursor diagonally. You will feel like having your very own built in mouse into your keyboard and researches showed the fact that the majority of the users prefer this option as to the latter one because of its mobility and flexibility. Also its much easier to use for the everyday user. If you want to adjust the mouse's speed you just have to double click on the Slow Mouse Speed. Reg and the restart the program and then you will have an icon to adjust it as to you likening.

You can find the program on websites and download it from there. I think that the last option is the best one yet if you want to work with your computer and not use the mouse because it's more accessible and spares you from all the technological details that not many users can handle. On the other hand this might be a nice way to start learning a thing or two about computers. Hope we have helped you!
