This time of the year seems to be dead for game-grade and desktop mice. CeBIT has passed and now I’m wandering around, trying to find some cool mouse. What’s this, a portable mouse from Kensington?

That’s the SlimBlade Trackball mouse specially designed for laptops. Thanks to its Bluetooth interface, you won’t be getting tangled in nasty wires anymore and you can also free up one USB connector. The SlimBlade integrates a 1000 DPI laser sensor, providing precise, responsive cursor action on almost any surface. You also get a 360 degree scrolling mode so you can now scroll your way up/down/left/right and in a circular motion for efficient page viewing. Hmm, I wonder if Genius came up with this idea first.

In addition, the 360 degree scroller can turn into a trackball when you don’t have enough surface space to move the actual wireless mouse. Plus, trackball mode provides added comfort since it requires less movement from your hands. In order to get into the desired mode, all you have to do is press the button at the top.

The supplied batteries can last for about 6 months and you can also find a battery life indicator on the mouse. The thin profile of the SlimBlade allows you to easily store and carry it around. Kensington provides support for both MACs and PCs.

The price looks to be the only downside for this mouse. On Amazon, the SlimBlade costs $82.
