Logitech Media Mouse

I must admit: I like being surrounded by all kinds of devices. As technology has evolved a lot lately, I like being up to date with as many technologic innovations as possible. But this can be tiring sometimes. I got to one point when I was sitting at my desk and I had four hardware devices in front of me: my computer mouse, TV remote, VCR remote and DVD player remote control. As I only have two hands, I thought I had to do something about it and reduce the number of remote controls or try something else. Finally, I found the perfect solution, due to the technology offered by Logitech. So I purchased a Logitech MediaPlay wireless computer mouse and at the same time I used the media files on my computer to listen to music, look at photos and watch films. This is now possible to do while laying comfortably in my bed and watching a thriller for example. I don't have to get up and adjust the volume for example or pause the movie, as I can do that from the distance. The Logitech MediaPlay mouse also functions as a remote control for media files. So this wonderful combination of computer mouse and remote control makes it possible to make all the necessary changes from up to ten feet distance, providing you with all the comfort you want, especially now, during the holiday season, when all the people want to stay in bed and enjoy their holiday time and have fun with the family.

This Logitech MediaPlay mouse is something like a combination between a computer mouse and a remote control. You can use it to perform all possible operations on your computer, but you can also use it as a remote control for the media player files on your computer. You have special media buttons for :"play", "pause", "volume up", "volume down", go to the next track and so on. You can evenĀ  use the fast forward and rewind buttons that are situated on the left side of the mouse. All the media buttons can be found on top of the Logitech MediaPlay mouse and they surround the scroll wheel. They are very easy to use and are very helpful when you want to use the mouse as a remote control for audio, video and photo files on your computer. The mouse itself has the shape of a remote control, like an hourglass and has a very smooth rubber edge that allows a firm grip and helps you to hold it firmly and not drop it when you use it as a remote. Besides, it is quite easy to see these buttons in the dark when you are watching a movie for example, as they light in the dark. Actually there are two colours available for this kind of mouse, hence the colour of the buttons can be either blue or red. The shape of the mouse makes it perfect for both right-handed and left-handed people. However, the lefties might find it difficult to use the forth-back buttons that are situated on the left side of the mouse.

The Logitech MediaPlay mouse also has a scroll-wheel like most of the modern computer mice, that can help you surf the internet pages faster or the long documents. The scroll wheel has two buttons in front of it and immediately beneath it that you can use for fast scrolling or normal scrolling. Some may consider these two buttons useless, but I use them. Another good thing about the scroll wheel is the fact that you can perform a normal up-down scroll movement, but also a side to side scrolling, not very usual if you ask me.

The fact that this computer mouse is wireless makes it more compatible with his status of mouse/remote control. In fact there is no remote control attached to the device it "remotely" controls, right? The Logitech MediaPlay mouse is delivered with two AA batteries that supply it with enough energy for two-three weeks use. I heard some people complain about the fact that it has AA batteries instead of rechargeable ones. Ok, I agree, it is more useful to recharge the batteries of your mouse, but AA batteries can be also useful if you are always on the run. When you are in the plane or train for example where can you find a plug for recharging the batteries of your mouse? But the AA batteries can befound in any decent store along the road.

The mouse is also delivered together with a receiver and an USB/PS2 adaptor. An interesting thing about the wireless method used to transmit the signals from the mouse to the receiver: this mouse uses radio frequency instead of infra red light, so this way it is invisible transmission and you can't see the red line when you use it as a remote control. The company advertises up to ten feet distance for a normal functioning of the mouse but in fact it works just fine at a longer distance. So this is one of the strongest points of Logitech MediaPlay mouse.

The mouse is optical and works perfectly on any kind of surface and the additional buttons can help you manage your media files better and at the same time saves you a lot of time and effort.

Logitech MediaPlay mouse is a modern and efficient mouse, ergonomic and comfortable, a bit smaller than other computer mice but it fits perfectly the palm of your hand. It is easy to use, even if it has more buttons than usual and it is delivered together with a CD containing its necessary software. Just play the CD, install the features and the mouse will let you perform all the operations that you want. The software is necessary to show you the available media players compatible and let you choose one of them.

On the back of the mouse you can find a button that lets you turn the mouse on/off. If you turn it off when you are not using it you may save battery life and prolong it up to one month. It is very useful considering that its batteries are not rechargeable. The feet of the mouse make it stabil and firm, but at the same time allows it to move very quickly on any kind of surface. Just like any other mouse, there are some very good features and some less points of this mouse, but on the average this is a very good computer mouse, also serving as a handy remote control for your computer media players.
