Logitech MX Revolution rechargeable cordless laser mouse is supposed to be "world's most advanced mouse". I didn't say it, Logitech did. So if they best computer mice company in the world says that, then it must be true. It has got all possible features you can think of, that is why sometimes I wonder what on Earth they could possibly upgrade and release next year for example? I don't know, but I do know that this mouse is incredible. And the fact that its performances still place it in the top sales and requests of the buyers all over the world says it all.

But until getting here the computer mouse has come a long way. The first computer mouse invented by Douglas Englebart in 1964 and patented in 1970 looked more like a brick and it was a mechanical mouse. Then there was the track ball, the optical mouse and finally the laser mouse, the best and most accurate of all (at least until today). I can imagine what it would be like if you showed  Logitech MX Revolution rechargeable cordless laser mouse to Englebart now. He would go crazy! Not only it is a laser mouse, that is the best accuracy, but it is also cordless and rechargeable. That is if the batteries run low, just plug it in and recharge them. Just wonderful.

The ergonomic enthusiasts will fall in love with it at first sight. Its ergonomic shape is ease to recognize, as it offers a special resting place for the thumb. It is traditionally coloured in black with logitech logo on. All the necessary buttons are there: the left and right click buttons, the scroll wheel on top with a one-touch button just behind it. Then there are the special navigation forward and back buttons and scroll wheel for the thumb, positioned so as to be very accessible and easy to use. The four little green LEDs lit there are indicators of the battery charge. When the battery is fully charged they are all lit up. As the number of the lit LEDs  decreases, so is the battery. It is perfect because it draws your attention how much time you have before running low on battery. When it is finished, recharge it and get ready to roll. The Logitech MX Revolution rechargeable cordless mouse is really revolutionary, as its name suggests it. The first hint is that the USB receiver connected to the main unit recognizes it instantly. But you still have to install the necessary software in order to be able to adjust the settings according to what you need and like, to your personality.

What's really revolutionary about this mouse is the fact that it has the ability to recognize what kind of feature of the scroll is the most appropriate in every case and automatically switches from click-to-click mode to free spin mode. I find these two ways of using the scroll wheel really cool. This scroll wheel can actually detect in an automatic way just how fast you scroll it and adjust accordingly. if you scroll fast enough, it will automatically switch to free spin mode, and if your scrolling speed is rather slow, it remains in click-to-click mode. It is amazing that when it is in free spin move, the scroll can sustain up to 7 seconds of free spinning. Imagine that! If you are looking for something in a really long Word document, this is a blessing. So you are dealing with a very smart mouse, a beautiful combination between software and hardware.

As to the ergonomic design, it really does the job it was meant for: your hand rests nicely against the mouse contours and allows you to operate it in a comfortable manner. It proves that it is a laser mouse, so it works just fine on any surface, even on a shiny desk, so you don't need a mouse pad and also can use a bigger area than the usual small area of your mouse pad.The MX mouse is covered with a very nice plastic and rubber in certain areas that allow a perfect grip, avoiding slipping from your hand. It also has four little feet that are made of Teflon designed to reduce friction and resistance and make it a perfect tool for mousing. There is also on the back (that is the belly of the mouse, the part that faces the desk) an on/off button that you can use when you leave home for a longer period of time, for example the weekend, and want to save the mouse energy. Speaking of which, the mouse batteries only have to be recharged every two weeks, as they are Li-ion and very resistant batteries. When you ant to recharge the mouse batteries, just place it in its docking station that get plugged in by the help of a AC transformer and that's it.

It communicates just fine with its USB receiver (as it is a wireless mouse) and its range of activity can go up to 30 feet). It is guided by a laser beam almost the size of a hair but this offers great accuracy and improved tracking on all kinds of surfaces. It also consumes a lot less energy than the others, so another plus for MX. The combined featured of being laser and having incredible wheel scrolls makes it a dream come true for gamers who need a lot of precision in some games and confers a real advantage. It is made to be used by almost any kind of computer, so it is compatible with Windows XP and Vista and MacOSX as well.

The one touch search button is very useful when you want to look for something directly on the internet, without having to open another internet page and access a search engine after typing the word or phrase in the box. All you have to do now is highlight the word/s you want to search and press the button. It will display the results found in an instant.

Let's make a revision and summarize what are the features that make MX Revolution so special and better than a regular computer mouse: MicroGear precision scroll wheel, Logitech SmartShift technology, one touch search button, ergonomic design, document quick-flip, Teflon feet, illuminated battery indicator. Yes, except for these features, it works like a regular mouse. I will let you be the judge if it really is "world's most advanced mouse" as advertised.
