Mouse Pad Feet

Usually mouse pads do not need and do not have feet. They are pretty light and made of plastic or foam, so they do not move that easily. I said usually. But, as you know, there are always exceptions from the rules, so there are some mouse pads that still require feet. they are the glass mouse pads. They are heavier, as they are made of glass, that is why the manufacturer thought it was necessary to stick some feet to these unique mouse pads. It was for both the user's sake and safety and for the mouse pad itself, as it may break when falling on a hard surface. It is pretty heavy, almost half a kilo , so if it happens to fall off your desk while playing a game, you could get injured if it falls on your foot. I don't know what is the probability, but it is better to be safe than sorry, as they say. These rubber feet are made of some kind of material that sticks to the surface of the desk or whatever surface you use for your mouse pad. In order to prevent slipping from it and causing unpleasant things, these feet get stuck to the desk. But how do they work: simply press the surface of the glass mouse pad and the feet will stick to the desk instantly.

What is really particular about the, is the fact that these feet do not have any glue attached. They work on the principle of  vacuum. The rubber feet have a concave shape and the rubber they are made of is quite flexible. So the action of pushing the glass mouse pad against the hard surface of the desk makes the feet suck the air in the concave space and then when the air is pushed out by the hard pressing, the feet remain stuck to the desk, as now there is vacuum between them and the surface of the desk. This  is a very simple, yet extremely effective way of keeping the glass mouse pad still on your desk. It is thought to help all the people using this, but especially gamers who have a more aggressive style of moving the computer mouse on the mouse pad and this may result in accidents in the case of the glass mouse pad.

The mouse pad feet may come in black colour or they may be transparent. In case you lose or deteriorate one of the feet, you can always replace the, as you get an extra set of feet. Just pull the old deteriorated foot and push the new good one in its place. It is just as simple as that.

When people saw these little feet attached to the back of the glass mouse pad holding it in one place, they first thought that these feet had some kind of glue or adhesive on them, as they stuck so well on the surface of the desk. But when they lifted one corner of the mouse pad, they could see that it comes up really easily and does not leave any kind of glue behind. If you want to check it, do it yourself. And you will see nothing on the desk, not even a little mark that something was stuck there. So when you want to move the place of the glass mouse pad, lift the corners, one at a time, and then move it to the new location, press each of the corners again and the glass mouse pad will be stuck again.

However well this may work, there are still some users who complained that the glass mouse pad has a little shortcoming when it comes to its feet. I am talking about the fact that the glass mouse pad is quite thick and when you use it, you lay your hand on it in a comfortable position. If your hand is heavy enough and you put more pressure on one corner, not resting your hand on the whole surface of the mouse pad, the feet could get loose and bump on the desk when using the computer mouse. Anyway this can be fixed easily if you press the loose corner a little bit and it will get stuck again.

I admit, it is quite unusual to see a glass mouse pad and it is even more unusual to see a mouse pad with feet but they do exist. But, after all, unusual things are the ones that spice up our lives and make it interesting and worth living. If all people were the same the world would be really boring. And, making a parallel, if all mouse pads were the same, we would invent something else to use with the computer mouse. Anyway, I did not even know there was a mouse pad with feet until I wrote this article, so you would better expect the unexpected, as it will certainly come.
