Silent Computer Mouse

Apparently the name of the Japanese producer is Thanko and the computer engineers who succeeded to reduce the noise made by a normal computer's buttons used silicon in order to do this, so the result is amazing: instead of the usual noise level made by a computer mouse that measures 58 decibels now reaches the much smaller level of 35.5 decibels, which is a big difference for the human ear and is not so disturbing any more.

The Silent Mouse EX has a resolution of 800 dots per inch and can be plugged to the USB port of your computer. Its dimensions of 180 x 66mm recommend it for all hands and can be used up to a distance of 1.5 metres, the length of its cord. It supports both Mac OS X 8.6 or better and also all versions of Windows later than 1998, that is Windows 98 SE/ME/2000/XP/Vista. If you want to order it you will have to place your order here and pay its price ($40.11) plus the shipping costs. Og course the producer is in Japan , so you might consider it before placing the order. The web site is written in English, though, and they have an equivalent of the price is three currency : Japanese Yen, US dollar and euro.

As you can see from the pictures above it is very simple with its two regular left and right click buttons and the scroll wheel between them. There is also a kind of ergonomic design suggested by the existence of a special indentation where to place your thumb and the comfortable body of the computer mouse. There are two more buttons on the left side (forward and backward) that can be operated by the thumb.
